Recently, I stopped by our local Benjamin Moore East Cobb Paint Center to check out the latest trends in paint colors. If you have never been to this location, you’ll find it in the Parkaire shopping center, right beside Johnny’s Pizza.
I spent some time with the owner, John Gregory, to discuss paint options for East Cobb homeowners who are looking to give their homes a refresh. My own home is still sporting the jewel tones and beige color scheme from the 2000s, and while I definitely want to update, the thought of replacing everything is a bit overwhelming!
John had some great advice for using neutral colors to update a space and achieve a modern look. He suggests using “Greige” colors because they work so well with the decor homeowners may already have in their homes. These colors marry well with home that feature warm beige undertones.
TOP 3 “GREIGE”
When using white and off-white colors, John suggests the popular White Dove OC-17 and the off-white Seapearl OC-19 a sleeper that many designers are starting to use. No matter which color you use, depending on the light, the color may look lighter or darker. Which brings us to his next suggestion….really check out the light before you paint!
“Color is site specific,” explains John. ” You should always try out a shade in the space and view it at different times of the day and night. Bright mid-day sun will wash out most pale hues. And artificial light may add a warm glow to a wall color. Test drive your color with a pint sample so you can see the actual color in a room.”
